Saved by Angels: The Miracle on Highway 6

In March 2008, on Highway 6 in Crawford, Texas, Cheri and Cody Clemmons, Lisa Bowdoin and Anthony Russo had a supernatural encounter on a rain-slick road that changed their lives foreverthat shook. They all claim to have witnessed the intervention of an angel during a tragic road accident that could have resulted in the death of the occupants of both vehicles. This angelic intervention on that fateful day profoundly changed their lives and renewed their Christian faith.

Reasons to believe:

  • Lisa Bowdoin's situation was desperate: there wasn't enough space to get out of the car. She was pulled from the vehicle by a pair of hands surrounded by a beam of light. Cheri and Cody Clemmons witnessed the light halo and the inexplicable rescue.
  • Cheri and another bystander, Theresa Surley, also saw an unconscious Anthony Russo being pulled from his burning car by invisible forces: he was floating above the ground. The flames burnt his clothes, attesting to the virulence of the fire in which he was trapped.
  • Cheri Clemmons' 911 call was recorded and is consistent with the chronology of events reported by witnesses.
  • Cheri was crying out: "God, You’ve got to help this man! You've got to help this man!"

  • The various protagonists were strangers to each other before this event. Their supernatural experience on Highway 6 in Crawford is therefore authentic.
  • The testimonies, the reported facts and the behaviour of the victims and witnesses do not contain any elements of hallucination or fabrication.
  • The theory of a collective hallucination, in addition to having no sound medical basis, does not explain how the two survivors could have been saved, if not by an angel. The witnesses saw no other protagonists, and the accident victims were in no condition to save themselves.
  • The lives of the witnesses changed radically. Some of them, who had previously been indifferent to the Christian faith, became fervent witnesses to Christianity. This profound change in their lives and spirituality underlines the significant impact of the event on their faith.

Summary:

A gripping event unfolded on Highway 6 in Crawford, Texas in March 2008, where the lives of Cheri and Cody Clemmons, Lisa Bowdoin and Anthony Russo were thrown together in the midst of tragedy. While the rain was icing the road, an extremely serious accident occurred. Lisa, driving her SUV, lost control and slid into the path of Anthony's car. The impact was devastating, flipping Lisa's SUV several times and crushing Anthony's car. In the chaos, both drivers found themselves trapped in their burning vehicles.

It was at this critical moment that the inexplicable happened. With Lisa trapped in her overturned car, with only a tiny space in which to escape, Cody Clemmons, a witness to the accident, bravely attempted to rescue her. But the vehicle was badly damaged, leaving Lisa barely twenty centimetres of space to try and extricate herself. In that moment of desperation, something miraculous happened: just as Cody and Lisa were grabbing each other's hands, another pair of invisible hands joined theirs, and a burst of white light surrounded them. Before they knew what was happening, they were both out of the vehicle, safe and sound.

Cheri Clemmons, who witnessed this miraculous scene from a distance, claims to have seen an angel in the form of an intense white light intervene to save Lisa.

But the story doesn't end there. A few feet away, Anthony, who was in the other car that crashed, was unconscious, trapped in his burning car with no way of escaping. "There was fire coming in through my left door. And it burnt my arm, my leg. I didn't feel no pain or anything like that. I just knew I wasn't going to die this way. And the steering wheel was stuck in my chest. I couldn't move.”As the flames engulfed Anthony, Cheri called out to God for help: "I was just crying out, ‘God, You’ve got to help this man! You've got to help this man!’ ’And he seemed to just emerge through the door and he just kind of floated out on the ground. So I believe God sent supernatural angels here to get him out of that vehicle.” A passer-by, Theresa Surley, also described the scene.

Lisa and Anthony miraculously survived despite serious injuries. Lisa recovered after eight months of rehabilitation without the need for a skin graft. Anthony also made enormous progress in his healing and attributed his rescue to the hand of God.

These extraordinary experiences radically changed the lives of the witnesses. Some of them, previously indifferent to the Christian faith, became fervent believers after this incredible event. More than two years after the events, the miracle on Highway 6 remains engraved in their minds: on that day, God sent angels to rescue them and orchestrated a heroic rescue. The persistence and consistency of the testimonies and the extraordinary events reported attest to the credibility of a supernatural intervention.

Beyond reasons to believe:

The Church teaches that angels exist. Their existence is fully consistent with the Christian belief that there is a higher level of reality than the material world, and the consistency of testimonies throughout history, as on Highway 6, reinforces the credibility and veracity of Christianity.
