How Aïsha, a Muslim convert, found Jesus (2004)

Aïsha, a young Muslim girl, had a difficult childhood. But at the age of 12, while watching the film Jesus of Nazareth something happened in her life that she can't explain. When she heard the name and words of the Lord, an inner voice spoke to her, and she listened attentively to this gentle, reassuring voice. Although she later had other signs and she was attracted to Christ, she had no plans to convert. But at the age of 21, as she was about to take her own life, she heard a voice talking her out of it. This last encounter was decisive: Aïsha has since become a disciple of Christ, and a witness to him.

Reasons to believe:

  • Aïsha's testimony is strong and balanced. She tells the story of her astonishing journey in a book published in 2022.
  • From the age of 10, a series of clear signs led her along the path of Christ. At the age of 21, she had a decisive encounter with Jesus Christ one day, when a voice called out to her and dissuaded her from taking her own life.
  • That moment led her to change her life and to become a Christian.
  • Since then, her life has not been easier, but the thoughts of suicide have left her. She knows and bears witness that Christ is with her.

Summary:

Here is the testimony Aïsha sent us:

"My name is Aïsha. I used to be a practising Muslim, having been born and brought up in a Muslim family. But one day, the Lord Jesus Christ revealed Himself to me and called me.

I had a troubled and difficult childhood, and many unanswered questions about eternity. But one day, when I was about 12, while watching Franco Zeffirelli's film Jesus of Nazareth, something happened to me that I can't explain. When I heard the name and words of the Lord, an inner voice spoke to me and I listened attentively to this gentle, reassuring voice.

That decisive moment led me to gather together all the questions I'd been asking myself about Jesus Christ: what if he was the answer to my many questions? From the age of 10, I had the feeling that I was having supernatural experiences, and all these experiences revolved around the Lord Jesus Christ. I remembered several "signs" that I had received, for example:

When I was in 6th grade, a puller passed by at the same time every day with this sentence written on the back of his rickshaw: "NO RELIGION SAVES; ONLY JESUS CHRIST SAVES". One day, I said to myself that I would take advantage of his next visit to ask him some questions. But once I'd made that decision, he never came round again, and I was very sad about that.

In 4th grade (8th grade in the US), my English teacher always talked to us about the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and it was as if this teacher had a special interest in me. When I joined my classmates to have fun (listening to pop music and the like...), he would ask me not to do it, and I would ask myself: "Why me and not the others?" I couldn't understand why he didn't make the same remark to the others.

When I was in my final year of secondary school, a neighbour kept telling me that I was called to serve Jesus Christ. I replied that I was a Muslim, but he wouldn't budge, telling me that I was called to serve the Lord, and that one day I would seek him out to bear witness to what he was telling me. And indeed, today I'd love to find that neighbour!

Then came that terrible day when, after a humiliating ordeal, I decided to end my life. Then a voice called me and said "Aïsha!"; I replied "Yes?" ; the voice said to me: "Get up, walk and go where I will show you." I got up and went where the voice led me: to an evangelical church. That's how I started attending it, right up to the present day. Without being able to explain it or admit it to myself, I had a love for the things of the Lord: I liked attending the evangelical meetings held at my school. I loved the songs of praise and worship.

Shortly after I heard this call, at the age of 21, I was given to understand that I had been the object of an evil sacrifice, but I understood that the Lord had cancelled the implication of this act on the day he called me, even though, afterwards, I believe that Satan claimed my soul several times, and that the people behind this sacrifice continued to want to harm me. But the Lord watched over me day and night with his angels. Everything was going according to the words of the prophecy he himself had given me 19 years earlier: "You shall not die, but live, and proclaim the works of the Lord"(Ps 117:17).

To this day, I seem to be experiencing things that cannot be explained in human terms. I realise what a grace it is to know Jesus Christ, who is "the Way, the Truth and the Life(Jn 14:6), to have his protection every day, and to have had all these experiences that gives me the assurance of my salvation."
